I just got home from a training session put on by Alberta Municipal Affairs called "Potential Councillor Training". It was a very informative evening for anyone looking to run for Mayor, Councillor, or School Trustee. They covered everything from nomination procedures to what happens on Election Day and what is required of a candidate after the election (win or lose). Although I was the only one from St. Albert the room was full of potential candidates from all over northern Alberta and it was interesting to meet and discuss our motives behind the decision to run.
